DIU celebrates ‘Cyber ​​Security Awareness Day-2021’

A day-long celebration of ‘Cyber ​​Security Awareness Day-2021’ has started at Daffodil International University (DIU) today on Saturday (October 30, 2021) with a colorful event which was organized by the Cyber ​​Security Center of DIU. The program was inaugurated by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University Professor Dr. SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder as the Chief Guest at Daffodil International University campus, Daffodil Smart City, Ashulia. In the meantime Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University was present as the Guest of Honor and Mr. Iqbal Hossain, President of ISACA Bangladesh Chapter was present as the Special Guest and as well as the keynote speaker. Besides this Professor Dr. Engineer AKM Fazlul Haque, Registrar of DIU, Dr. Imran Mahmud, Head, Department of Software Engineering, Sheikh Mohammad Allayer, Head, Department of MCT, Mr. Maruf Hasan, Director of the Cyber ​​Security Center and Associate Professor and Dr. Touhid Bhuiyan, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering also joined this program form Australia through online. Professor Dr. SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder said to his speech that at present 4.5 billion people in the world use social media. The present time is the time of information technology and internet. One cannot imagine a day without internet now. So we need to be aware of the cyber world. He also said that information technology revolution is happening in Bangladesh now. Now is the time to be aware of cyber threat. He hoped that the young generation would learn a lot about cyber security from today's seminars and workshops. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said that the present age is called the data age. He who has more data in his hand, the more powerful he is. So in the world of the internet, there is no way but to keep our data safe. Addressing to the students, Daffodil Chairman also said that the world of information technology is changing rapidly. It is heard that Quantum Computer will hit the market next year. This computer will be 10 million faster than present computers. So we need to be more aware of the security of the technology. While addressing as the special guest, Iqbal Hossain said that hacking incidents are increasing all over the world. Only last year, the websites of 83% of the world's organizations have been hacked. So there is no way but to be aware of cyber security. Sad but true, only 7% of the world's internet users are aware of cyber security. Iqbal Hossain said we need to raise awareness to keep data safe in the internet world. He said such seminars and workshops would be much more helpful in raising awareness. He gave thanks to Daffodil International University for organizing such a timely event. October is being celebrated worldwide as ‘International Cyber ​​Security Month’. This year the theme of the day is ‘Stay Safe While Using Cyberspace’. Daffodil International University is celebrating the day through various events. Today's day-long program includes cybersecurity seminars, training workshops, panel discussions, product exhibitions and the Capture the Flag competition. Hundreds of teams from all over the country are participating in this competition. BASIS, ISAS and SoftHub BD are collaborating in these day-long events.
